Parking Planning and Calculation

The purpose of this diploma thesis „Parking Planning and Calculation„ is car parks at selected buildings. The goal of this thesis is to optimize the selected of targeted units for calculate the number of parking spaces. First part of the work is focused on the measurement itself and data analysis. The next part of the work consists of comparison of calculated parking places according to standards with real number of parking places.

Legal regulation of ex situ biodiversity conservation Abstract This thesis focuses on the legal regulation of biodiversity conservation at international, European and mainly national level, in relation to ex situ conservation. The aim of the thesis is to introduce and provide an overview of the legal regulation of biodiversity conservation with a focus on ex situ protection of species of animals and plants. The secondary objectives of the thesis are de lege ferenda considerations in response to the identified shortcomings of the legal regulation in the Czech Republic, together with a comparison of selected provisions of the Slovak and Czech legal system. Overall, the thesis is intended to encourage reflection on the importance of biodiversity conservation and to focus attention on programmes, facilities and other methods of addressing ex situ protection. The thesis is divided into four parts. The first part deals with basic concepts such as biodiversity and its levels, or a more detailed definition of in situ and ex situ conservation. The global issue of species extinction and the overall loss of biodiversity is also discussed along with the importance of its conservation. Breeding and rearing of endangered turtles in zoos - trend and distribution analysis

Turtles had first appeared on Earth more than 300 million years ago. While other an-imal species had evolved and subsequently perished, the turtles have survived due to their unique evolutionary adjustments. However, they were not prepared for rapid changes in nature, nor were they prepared for the human threat. There are currently 328 turtle species of which more than a half is in danger of extinction. One of the possible ways of preventing extinction of the rarest species of turtles in the wild may be their breeding in zoos. For the most endangered species, a suffi-cient and reproducing population there may be the last resort in preventing them from going extinct as well as give them a chance to eventually be reintroduced. In 2021, out of 50 endangered turtle species on the Turtles in trouble list, 41 spe-cies were bred in captivity in zoological gardens worldwide. Of these only 10 % of these had population greater than 500, 54 % had population greater than 50 and the remaining 36 % had population of up to 50. In 2021, only 26 species reproduced and during the years 2017-2021, 31 out of the 50 species had bred at least once.

Factors influencing worldwide zoo collections of lizards, snakes, turtles and crocodiles: effect of conservation status, body size and their attractiveness to humans

There is a large number of species existing in the world; each year, however, the number of the endangered ones rapidly increases. Nowadays, captive breeding becomes an option for their survival in refugees. Sufficient population with satisfactory breeding management gives hope for survival to the endangered species (in mid-term) or even possible future reintroduction to their natural habitat. WAZA is currently the world's leading association of worldwide zoos and similar breeding facilities. Because these institutions operate as a network to facilitate the exchange of reared individuals, for conservation purposes, their captive populations may be seen as one large population characterized by its size, i.e., the total number of individuals. Such view is currently recognized by many conservationists as the so-called concept of Noah's Ark. The space on the Ark is limited, therefore it is needed to heed the characteristics of the species aboard to maximize the conservation potential. Many factors influence the presence of species in zoological gardens. Following previous studies we selected some factors that may be important, i.e., body lenght, taxonomy, and IUCN status. Two faces of ZOO - perception of zoos from the view of their supporters and opponents

Two faces of ZOO Perception of zoos from the view of their supporters and opponents The main topic of this thesis is a role of zoological gardens in the modern society, especially their importance to conservation of biodiversity as well as to progress in public education. I was interested not only in the opinions and the attitudes of the supporters of zoological gardens, but also in views of their opponents as the opposite side. In the case of the opponents I wanted to reveal if their criticism of zoos is based on negative emotions (bad feeling from breeding animals in captivity and thinking about their rights to freedom) or rise from real inadequacies (for example bad living conditions of animals). So in the theoretical part of the thesis I was concerned about contributions of zoological gardens in many ways as well as about their limitations, mostly mentioned by their opponents. To be more precise in drawing conclusions I made my own empirical research which was based on questionnaires and interviews with directors of certain zoos in the Czech Republic. Tropické pavilony zoologických zahrad jako životní prostor pro necílové organizmy (pavouky) - komplexní studie

This thesis focuses ontopic regarding: „Tropical pavilions in zoological gardens as living space for nontargeted species (spiders) – complex study” is focused on generic diversity of original and non–native species (mostly spiders) in tropical and subtropical pavilions of zoological gardens in Brno and Prague. The final goal of this thesis is to gather information in local pavilions and terrariums and determinating generic diversity especially in non–native species of spiders. Collecting samples was done by land–falling traps and on a few occasions by hand. Collected samples of invertebrates species were then determinated. Main goal was to determinate, which local rare species of local and mostly non–native species occur in zoological gardens. After the determination was done the most occured species were Parasteatoda tepidariorum (Koch, 1841) in Brno ZOO and Hasarius adansoni (Audouin, 1826) in Prague ZOO. The most interesting findings were Heteroonops spinimanus (Simon, 1892), Theotima minutissima (Petrunkevitch, 1929) a Prodidomidae Simon family, 1884, which occurence were in Czech Republic not yet recorded. Furthermore were found few species which are in Czech Republic rare, primarily Nesticodes rufipes (Lucas, 1846).

Information system and environmental education in ZOO Plzeň

The bachelor thesis deals with information system and environmental education in ZOO Plzeň and it is divided into two parts. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis deals with the theme of the zoological gardens, their importance, history, etc. Another topic is the issue of environmental education and information system. The last part of the literary research contains information about Zoological and botanical garden Plzeň. In the practical part, there is an overview of the tools of the information system and environmental education in ZOO Plzeň. This part of the thesis also contains a questionnaire survey to compare the satisfaction and importance of individual elements in the ZOO, its subsequent evaluation and statistical processing.
